ORLANDO, Fla - Another successful AAU Tackle Football League Based National Championship is in the books.

Teams from across the east coast descended on the Orlando, Fla area from Dec 9th – 13th to compete in this national AAU tackle football championship.  Games were held at Northeast Regional Park in Davenport and West Orange High School in Winter Garden respectively.

8U Division

The 8U action saw Potomac Valley’s District Height Chiefs and Florida’s Pensacola Colts lead their respective pools at 3-0 moving into bracket play.

In bracket play, Central Virginia Hurricanes, who came in second in pool play upset the Chiefs 26-3 to push them into the championship game against the Colts, who they lost to at 14-7 in pool play. A second upset was not in the cards as the Pensacola Colts beat the Hurricanes 28-0 to take home the championship crown.

10U Division

In the 10U division, the Central Virginia Hurricanes (3-0), District Height Chiefs (2-0) and South Carolina’s Columbia Elite Junior Bearcats (2-0) all won their respective pools heading into bracket play.

In the semi-finals, the Junior Bearcats bested the Chiefs in a closely contested 24-22 victory.  The Junior Bearcats would again score 24 points in the finals but they were no match for the Hurricanes who posted 42 points and were crowned champions.

12U Division

Florida was well-represented in the 12U Division, with the Apopka Raptors (2-0) and the Lake Nona Jr. Lions (2-0) joining Virginia’s Fredericksburg ‘Canes (2-0) and the District Height Chiefs (2-0) as pool play winners.

In the semi-final games, the Raptors edged out the Chiefs 8-6 to advance to the championship game. The other game wasn’t as close as the ‘Canes trounced the Jr. Lions 28-0.   The finals saw the Raptors come away victorious over the ‘Canes in a close 16-6 game.

14U Division

Georgia Thoroughbreds (2-0), Apopka Raptors (2-1) and Pensacola Browns (3-0) won out in pool play each heading into bracket play.

The semi-finals were played very close with North Carolina’s High Point Steelers losing 12-6 to the Thoroughbreds and the Browns losing 16-6 to the Raptors.  The championship game was not as close as the Thoroughbreds took home the title with a 20-6 win over the Raptors.

Congratulations to all teams who participated in this year’s event. We hope to see you all at the 2016 AAU Tackle Football League Based National Championships next year!
